Mobile Marketing: What is QR code ?

QR Code is popular used in mobile marketing now. What QR Code is? It is created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" means "Quick Response", the code can be decoded its contents at high speed. Actually, it is a matrix code or two-dimensional bar code, and is different from the traditional code. The appearance of QR code is like a stylish pixel picture, generally, it can be found in magazines, on signs, business cards or billboard. Users with a camera phone equipped with the correct reader software can scan the image of the QR Code causing brower launch and redirect to the programmed URL. The URL which drive you to your interested products or services website.


QR Codes are common in Japan, where they are currently the most popular type of two dimensional codes. Moreover, most current Japanese mobile phones can read this code with their camera. Disney Land in Japan create an innoviative Disney figure QR codes, it attracted many Disney’s fans and drawed them to capture the QR code for browsing the new promotion on Disney’s website.

Hong Kong also started to adopted in mobile marketing this recent years. Mostly using QR in HK are cinema ticket and magazine promotion. Marketors promoting QR code highly use in mobile marketing, they also lanuch a real mobile QR code walk on street for their mobile marketing strategy.
